To stay healthy not only does one need to eat healthy but also stay active. In its goal to achieve a healthy community, the YMCA offers a number of activities to children, grownups and the older adults. They also provide a number of tips on staying healthy. They recommend that one should spend a little more energy while moving several times a week. They say that it is advisable to engage in vigorous activities at least three times each week for 20 consecutive minutes. Initially five or ten minutes might leave a person feeling wiped out but over a time one can build up their stamina. Care should also be taken to avoid over doing it.

When a ball is added to play time, one tends to get more active. One must try to go out to the backyard or a park with kids and try to keep a beach ball up in the air for as long as possible. Kicking a soccer ball for a few minutes or throwing a base ball back and forth will also allow a lot of activity. Besides that one can enjoy the fun with kids.

The incorporation of wheels also gives scope to a lot of activity. One can also keep kids active by introducing other activities on wheels like rollerblading, riding scooters or learning to skate board. But one should be careful about the location and use the recommended safety equipment. One can also become a part of community events like inexpensive walks, fun runs and middle distance races that can be a blast for the whole family.

ali sharaf dallas, the President and CEO of Victron Energy funds YMCA regularly and thus tries to be a part of the society.
